D-Day minus 2 (or possibly 3) ......

Welcome to my Website and my Blog.

I've come to the conclusion, over the past nine months that this site has been "under construction", that creating a website is much like having a baby.

You start off by finding a good web designer (mine is called Thomas). If you're lucky he knows a bit about knitting and/or wool. Thomas doesn't knit (yet) but his lovely partner Dom does and she knows what a good wool site should be like. Then starts the interesting part - you bat ideas around, how to make the on-line shop as much like the real shop as possible. Thomas starts playing with ideas - you get together and thrash out layout, colours and design. And then the long, long inputting starts.

To make our site work every ball of yarn, its meterage, its colour, its weight, its shade and every other detail you can imagine has to be inputted. That done, I started on the patterns - every size and the number of balls for every size etc, etc, etc. It went on and on and on for months - and now we're nearly there. Like a pregnant woman there were mornings I felt sick, mornings when I though I can't go on, one famous day when I had to get out and go for a walk to stop myself throwing the computer out of the window.

And now we're nearly there. Our due date has been and gone - we're late and trying everything to get our baby "live". The FB (more on him later) is photographing buttons, Thomas is battling with VAT (much like forgetting to pack nappies), I'm still inputting and tweaking and refining and I'm really nervous. What if you think my baby is really ugly? What if you don't like it? What if it doesn't work?

Once it's "live" there will be champagne and sleepless nights, highs and lows, dramas and excitements. Please tell me if it doesn't work or there are bits missing but, do me one favour please - please don't tell me if my baby is really ugly - mums really don't appreciate that!
